Within a few minutes drive to the famous Orchard shopping district, stands this unassuming freehold property, The Legend. Completed in 1996, this towering condominium boasts a mere 98 units across 20 storeys, consisting of 2- and 3-bedroom apartments ranging from 753 to 2,228 square feet.

Just recently, our team visited one of the very high floor 2-bedroom maisonette at The Legend, also a value buy that we could not agree more as we discover her hidden potential.

When we arrived at the property, we were greeted by this well concealed driveway hiding both sky-high blocks, and parked at one of the aboveground parking spaces. Right away, we could not help noticing the generous offer of space integrated within her architectural design and how different she looks from her neighbouring counterparts.

Artistic fountains laid out amidst old-fashioned walkways that connect one block to another are hard to miss. And while these gave us a sentimental feeling of our yesteryears, it also made us think how much space they occupy. Well, we must say this property ultimately does not feel like a heavily built-up environment.

When we reached that very high-floor unit that we came for, we were welcomed by that privacy of the unique layout between the elevator and the owner’s front door. The neighbour is completely out of sight, which serves like a private lift.

The promise of light and space overwhelmed us as we entered the property. The maisonette felt a lot larger than its recorded size of 1,442 square feet, owing to the full-length windows and double high ceilings. it is both high-ceilinged, and vibrant with natural lighting.

The living area gives you an expansive scenic view of the city and overlooks the greenery of MacRitchie Nature Reserve. The natural lighting touches every corner of the lower floor, including the common bedroom that fits a twin bed with its own ensuite bathroom.

Going up the elegantly designed, space-saving spiral staircase that directly leads to the master bedroom gives me that nostalgic feeling of sophisticated living. The bedroom offers a full view of the lower floor through a corridor, with built-in storage spaces lining the entire stretch of wall.

Seeing is believing and we all agree how well-maintained the whole unit is. The owner’s taste in the finer touches of her home is evident from the furnishings and finings around us. In short, this lovely loft is an ideal bachelor pad or for a small family with kids.

Outside, there is a gymnasium, swimming pool and jacuzzi, armed with 24 hours security. The pool area is well concealed by lining trees to provide that privacy and the covered communal area offers barbecue activities and alfresco cooking pleasures.

What stood out for us was the covered parking spaces, we were awed by the abundant spaces set up with ornate installations, like a large water fountain. It really set us thinking just what a potential en bloc prospect she is.

The Legend is fairly accessible to public transportation by foot – the nearest bus stop is barely 100m away, well located between Stevens and Newton MRT stations. If you are driving, the Pan Island Expressway (PIE) is reachable within just a minute drive.

For parents, a few childcare centres are also a few minutes away on foot: Raffles House Preschool, The Learning Vine Childcare, and MY WORLD. Prestigious schools like Singapore Chinese Girls’ School and St Joseph’s Institution are also located close by. If you are into shopping, The Legend are minutes away by car to Delfi Orchard, Palais Renaissance, Far East Plaza, and the rest of the Orchard Road belt.
